Galilee or "Galilee of the Nations" (Isaiah 9: 1)
Comes from the Hebrew word "galil", which translated means "a circle". The word "nations" comes from the Hebrew word "goim", which translated means "gentiles". Thus, "Galilee of the nations" refers to the region of the Gentiles, reflecting the fact that it was inhabited by both Jews and Gentiles.
"Jesus went about all the cities and villages of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people". (Matthew 9:35)
We, as a congregation, are known by the appellation, Galilee, and resolve to engage in ministries which meet human need. (Matthew 25: 31-40) We further resolve, with the aid of the Holy Spirit, to carry out the mandate of the church of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20); which is to take the gospel of the kingdom of God to the uttermost parts of the Earth.
